No matter the accusations, it's clear that the attacks against Arday were a targeted campaign against a Black man whose success made certain people uncomfortable. The chilling effect this sends to young minority scholars is real and damaging: excel in elite spaces and become a target.

The Arday scandal exposes institutions so captured by progressive ideology that no one dared question increasingly implausible claims, and when a journalist and an academic raised legitimate research integrity concerns, Arday's response was to call the police. Fortunately, Arday has learnt that crying racism to deflect scrutiny will not make the questions go away.
