Initially allowing Valentina Gomez into the U.K. was a glaring double standard, but the Home Office rightly reversed course after mounting pressure exposed the inconsistency. Gomez had already stood on a British stage urging crowds to fight against "rapist Muslims" and told police to ignore lawful orders. Rhetoric that dehumanizes an entire faith community and undermines public authorities has no place on British streets.
Banning Valentina Gomez while leaving borders open to others exposes a government that selectively silences dissent based on who holds political favor. A Home Secretary who answers to Muslim pressure groups rather than British free speech principles is a serious problem. Criticism of any religion or ideology is a cornerstone of English liberty, and no community should have veto power over who gets to speak.
