The violence in Thetford is rooted in racism and scapegoating, not legitimate grievance. Refugees aren't responsible for the housing crisis — decades of selling off council homes created that shortage. Thetford locals were never consulted about placing asylum seekers in the area. When they demanded answers, the council capped attendance at 120 in a room for 300.
