UK: Starmer Apologizes for Past Forced Adoption Scandal

The £4 million support package for records access and family reconnection backs up the words with real action. Accountability like this is exactly what justice looks like.

This issue deserves nuance, not a simplistic national confession. Many adoptions reflected the social norms and limited options of the time, with some children finding stable, loving homes even amid serious injustices. It's also striking that Starmer offers an unequivocal apology for policies that ended half a century ago while resisting the same urgency over the far more recent grooming-gang scandal that failed thousands of girls.
