Version 7.18.3
A sudden leap from public transport to luxury cars, diamond-studded watches and property makes the conviction entirely justified. The court rightly saw through implausible explanations, vindicating Ramaphosa against attempts to turn a crime at his home into a political scandal. The verdict strengthens the government's credibility and exposes how political opponents exploited the theft to undermine a president who was himself the victim.
A conviction without fingerprints or usable footage raises serious questions about a case built largely on circumstantial evidence. Police incompetence cannot justify lowering the burden of proof simply because the crime occurred at Ramaphosa's home. His government cannot preach the rule of law while allowing serious investigative failures to be papered over with assumptions about unexplained wealth and questionable conclusions.
