The Facts
- The Conservative Party suspended Jack Ross, chief executive of Turning Point UK and a former election candidate, with immediate effect Wednesday after an Al Jazeera documentary showed him discussing the cost of hiring contract killers.
- In footage secretly recorded at the 2022 Conservative Party conference, Ross set out violent options that he said could be bought for cash, telling the undercover reporter that contacts could beat, cut, stab, shoot or kill a person
- Al Jazeera's undercover operation began in 2021, when a reporter joined Turning Point UK, the British offshoot of Turning Point USA. Ross allegedly introduced the reporter to Allan Nesbitt, a convicted criminal from Glasgow.

Any outfit that cozies up to banned paramilitaries and funnels foreign cash into fake rallies has no place in public discourse and should face serious police investigation. Proclaiming that Britain is importing dangerous criminals falls on deaf ears when those who push the argument are willing to to discuss contract killings. This should, in a sane world, be the beginning of the end for Turning Point UK.
Right narrative
Political violence is unacceptable in all cases, and yet somehow always gets a free pass the moment it is in favor of progressive causes. Left wing "direct action" urging activists resort to physical damage and target elected officials barely registers as news, while the slightest whiff of right-wing wrongdoing triggers wall-to-wall outrage. Performative fury when it suits liberal ideology helps no one.
