Trump was miles uptown in Trump Tower on 9/11, not being hauled out of a creaking building by firefighters, and no record of that rescue — which Trump never even addressed while defending his account as "exactly accurate" — exists anywhere. Turning the deadliest attack on American soil into a personal narrative that insults the responders who ran into the smoke and are still suffering. And skipping Friday's 25th anniversary Ground Zero ceremony because speeches aren't allowed says it all.

Once again, the media is twisting what Trump actually claimed. Trump never claimed he was pulled from the rubble on 9/11. He said he went to Ground Zero shortly afterward, and video from Sept. 13 shows him there with his people. His former security chief, Matthew Calamari, has repeatedly confirmed the trip. And the claim that he’s skipping the anniversary in New York because he couldn't speak falls apart too. Nobody speaks at the solemn ceremony, and Trump was asked to attend the Pentagon instead.
