Prison officials, not judges, are the ones qualified to weigh safety, scarce resources and contested science behind sex-trait interventions. The evidence base for these has been discredited and mental health treatment remains available to everyone who needs it. Handing one group special items and procedures only breeds resentment, invites violence and rewards threats of self-harm.
Left narrative
Taking hormone therapy from people who have depended on it for years, with no exam and no individual medical judgment, is cruelty as policy. Prisoners cannot go anywhere else for care, so a blanket ban on treatment already prescribed by a doctor amounts to deliberate indifference to a serious condition. Singling out one group for denial of health care is discrimination.
