Trudeau is finally admitting he was wrong about immigration — without ever saying so. After years of dismissing concerns about integration and shared Canadian values as "racist dog whistles," he's now making the very case critics argued all along. His government's immigration surge strained housing, health care and the asylum system, then left Canadians to deal with the consequences. The least he can do now is acknowledge the damage his virtue-signaling agenda left behind.

Trudeau's call for integration and shared values shouldn't be twisted into another excuse for restricting immigration or blaming newcomers for Canada's problems. Housing shortages, strained health care and rising costs reflect years of government failures, not immigration alone. Canada's troubling shift toward anti-immigrant politics, exemplified by Bill C-12, betrays the country's values while distracting from the reforms that would actually address those challenges.
