Tigray Declares New War Against Ethiopia’s Government

The TPLF built up tanks, artillery and forced recruitment for months, then seized airports and attacked across three regions — that is a war of choice, not self-defense. Grounding Ethiopian Airlines flights and displacing families does nothing to help the people of Tigray. A negotiated dialogue under the African Union was already on the table, and rejecting it for an unwinnable fight only drags the whole Horn further toward disaster.
Government-critical narrative
Abiy Ahmed's regime has earned this uprising by ruling through dictatorship and bombardment instead of real dialogue. When Tigrayan, Amhara, Oromo and Afar movements that once fought each other all unite against one man, that says everything about who is destabilizing Ethiopia. With drones and artillery raining down on Tigray, there is little choice left but a defensive fight and the formation of a transitional government.
