This is what justice looks like. Individuals who ran the 4th Division, oversaw mass arbitrary arrests and earned spots on international sanctions lists belong in a courtroom, not enjoying comfortable retirement in Tartus. Documenting the crimes before handing cases to judges shows a country building the rule of law to protect it's people.

Government-critical narrative

Rounding up old regime officers makes for good headlines, yet the real rot continues to spread. Syria today is fragmented with massacres of Alawites and Druze, a constitution that hands the president control of parliament and the new leader's own brother reportedly steering company takeovers. Swapping one sect's tyranny for another isn't liberation.
