As soon as the U.S. envoys left Ukraine, Russia launched another horrific attack that killed civilians and caused destruction in the country, showing that it continues to place more value on ballistic missiles than diplomacy. Allies need to increase the pressure on Moscow and force Russia to take the prospect of peace talks more seriously.
Pro-Russia narrative
Russia has long favored a political settlement to the conflict. Despite talks being held on a number of occasions, Ukraine is continuing to obstruct progress to a negotiated ceasefire, all while service personnel continue losing their lives.
