While it's a good thing Iran said there was progress, which there was, there's a long way to go. Trump has been clear that Iran must never have a nuclear weapon, dispose of its enriched uranium and limit its future enrichment capabilities. Then there's also the Strait of Hormuz to deal with. At the end of the day, these are a very difficult group of people and unless there's change soon, the president has been clear he has other options he can go with.
According to insiders within the Trump administration, while no decision has been made, the military is preparing for a fresh round of strikes on Iran. Sources said that members of U.S. military and intelligence community canceled their plans for the Memorial Day weekend in anticipation of possible strikes. Trump himself said on social media that "Circumstances pertaining to Government" are keeping him from Don Jr's wedding in New Jersey and that he had to remain at the White House.
Despite the U.S.'s history of launching attacks in the middle of negotiations, in the interests of peace, Iran has entered this diplomatic process with a responsible approach and in all seriousness, and is striving to achieve a reasonable and fair outcome. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the U.S. who has made a number of contradictory statements and continues to make overly excessive demands.
While at the start of this war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to be in the cock pit of the operation, he has now been relegated to economy by the Trump administration.
