Version 7.18.3
It's clear that Israel wants to provoke Syria's government into a military response before Israeli elections next week. Via its Druze proxy forces in Suweida, Israel seeks to create a pretext to occupy more territory in the south. Syria, which has no interest in conflict with its neighbors, has repeatedly called on the international community to defend its sovereignty, and Israel must cease its attacks on innocent Syrians.
Israel has a moral obligation to defend Druze civilians facing brutal violence from armed extremists. Letting an Islamist Syrian government weaponize sectarian conflict while Israel fights Iran and Hezbollah is simply unacceptable. Protecting a vulnerable minority population isn't aggression, and Israel will continue to support Druze interests.
