The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) told Arctic Report Card participants on Monday that it was ending all support for the annual publication, effective immediately. No reason was provided for the decision.

NOAA spokesperson Kim Doster said coordination of the 2026 Arctic Report Card "will not be facilitated through NOAA," though data "will continue to be collected and will remain publicly available."

Published since 2006, the peer-reviewed report has documented Arctic sea ice, ecosystems and atmospheric changes in a region warming at about three or four times the rate of the rest of the globe.

The 2025 edition found that Arctic surface temperatures from October 2024 through September 2025 were the warmest since 1900, as winter sea ice reached its lowest recorded maximum extent.

Net zero has been a six-decade U.N. failure that never bent the CO2 curve, but certainly delivered sky-high electricity bills and gutted manufacturing. Meanwhile, life expectancy, crop yields, coral cover and global greening continue to improve, proving that doom-mongering was always overblown. Americans agree, with polls showing climate change barely cracks 3% as a top issue.

Climate-concerned narrative

U.S. climate science is under siege. Cutting the Arctic Report Card after 20 years will do nothing to address catastrophic effects in the Arctic, it just silences the people explaining what the data means. Buoys and satellites keep working, so this looks like burying inconvenient conclusions rather than saving money. Silencing alarms only benefits polluters who profit from the public staying in the dark.
