Black athletes shouldn't be a party to a system that fills stadiums and bank accounts for states that are erasing their grandmothers' congressional districts in the aftermath of SCOTUS's Callais decision. The NAACP boycott campaign is a direct, necessary response to withhold talent, money and loyalty from institutions that stay silent while their states dismantle Black representation.
The NAACP is asking Black athletes to sacrifice for a political agenda dressed up as solidarity. No Black voter lost the right to cast a ballot. The only thing that's changed is Democrats' ability to draw majority-minority districts to protect their incumbencies. Demanding young athletes to pay that tab exposes exactly whose interests this campaign actually serves.
