The real question is who controls the territory the day after.

Israel's so-called "pilot zone" plan is a sham. Villages like Froun and Ghandouriyeh were never even occupied by Israeli forces, meaning Israel is handing over nothing while keeping its grip on southern Lebanon. Locals and Lebanese security sources confirm this, yet the U.S. is celebrating it as a milestone. Meanwhile, aid convoys are being turned back at gunpoint and 7,000 Lebanese civilians remain cut off from their own country.
Pro-government narrative
Lebanon's sovereignty cannot be reduced to demands that serve only Israel's security concerns while Israeli troops continue occupying Lebanese territory. A sustainable solution requires full implementation of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 by all parties — Israel must withdraw from occupied Lebanese positions, halt violations of Lebanese airspace and territory, and allow the Lebanese Armed Forces to deploy without external military pressure.
Government-critical narrative
The fact that the Lebanese government has made any agreement with Israel regarding the country's sovereignty is shameful. Israel occupies Lebanese land, has killed scores of civilians and seeks to ethnically cleanse the border of its Shiite inhabitants. As the Lebanese resistance works to liberate the country, the Lebanese government has chosen to side with the occupier.
