Version 7.18.2
Kids found in mass graves with hands and legs bound never volunteered for anything, so calling starvation a personal choice falls apart. Denying children medicine and education goes beyond religious freedom. Kenya's government must protect vulnerable citizens, and stronger oversight of religious groups is essential. Enforcing laws against abuse protects both children and religious freedom.
The allegations are horrifying, but hanging 191 murder counts on circumstantial evidence, hearsay and inconclusive forensics sets a dangerous precedent for faith leaders across Kenya. Adults have the right to fast voluntarily, and preaching an unpopular doctrine is not the same as murder. However disturbing the mass graves are, public outrage cannot replace proof beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
