The Spin

Establishment-critical narrative

After the judge ruled that police officers conducted an illegal and warrantless search of Mangione's backpack, numerous items can no longer be presented by prosecutors at trial. The defense will now be able to poke a number of holes in the prosecution's arguments. Conviction is no longer a slam dunk.

Pro-establishment narrative

While some evidence has been suppressed, the ruling about the alleged murder weapon and Mangione's notepad are absolutely a win for the prosecutors in this case. They will argue that the printing of the 3-D gun showed his intention to remain untraceable while his writings document his state of mind and alleged decision making in the case.
