Judge Blocks Pentagon Press Policy as Unconstitutional
Is the Pentagon's new press policy a necessary security measure or unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination against independent journalists?

Republican narrative
The Pentagon is a secure military facility, not a public square, and the D.C. Circuit already confirmed in AP v. Budowich that restricted government spaces aren't First Amendment forums. A neutral credentialing policy isn't censorship — it's basic security management. This ruling is wrong on the law and will be corrected on appeal.
Democratic narrative
The Pentagon's press rules violated both the First and Fifth Amendments by weeding out independent reporters. Replacing credentialed journalists with Trump loyalists, conspiracy theorists and political boosters isn't a security policy — it's viewpoint discrimination, plain and simple. Free people deserve a free press covering their military, especially during active conflicts.
