Anti-Jewish interpretations of Scripture remain a real problem in Catholic preaching, and Levine is uniquely positioned to fix that. Getting accurate historical context about Jesus into parishes is long overdue.

Framing this as progress is a serious mistake — the priorities Levine's announced amount to pressuring the Church to reinterpret its own Scripture through an outside lens. Labeling traditional Catholic biblical readings as "anti-Jewish" opens the door to altering texts that reflect Christ's own words. Catholic institutions should guard doctrinal integrity, not outsource it.
