Taybeh shows why violent settlers should not be conflated with Israel as a whole. Violent settlers no more represent ordinary Israelis than any radical fringe represents an entire nation. Israel has both a moral and national interest in protecting Taybeh's Christians, and this military action shows it's followed through on this obligation. Enforcing the law proves that Jewish security and Christian safety are not competing causes.
Pro-Palestine narrative
Israel's protection of Taybeh is purely performative. Residents say the military closure keeps Israeli and foreign activists out while settlers return after troops leave, and have described repeated attacks, intimidation and damage to Christian-owned land despite Israeli security control. If authorities truly sought to protect Taybeh, they would consistently remove and prosecute violent settlers, not isolate those documenting their actions.
