Version 7.18.3
Letting Moscow or Beijing decide where Irish peacekeepers serve is a surrender of sovereignty no independent nation should accept. A paralyzed Security Council that hasn't greenlit a new mission in years has turned a safeguard into a straitjacket, strangling a proud peacekeeping tradition. Neutrality existed long before the triple lock and will survive just fine without it.
Neutrality is not a technicality to be rewritten by a parliamentary majority that never sought a mandate for it at the ballot box. The triple lock was the very guarantee sold to voters to win two EU treaty referendums, and tearing it up now is a betrayal of that promise. Sending troops abroad under EU formations rather than a U.N. mandate demands a public vote.
