GOP, Democrats Respond to Texas Candidate's Controversial Remarks

Left narrative
Looking at a crowd of diverse faces and declaring them foreigners is racism. Those kids were cheering for their own university, and Texas law already guarantees most UT seats go to top Texas high school graduates, while international students make up under 10% of the student body.
Right narrative
Texans poured billions of dollars into UT over generations, and taxpayers have every right to demand that their flagship university serve citizens first instead of foreign nationals. Pointing out that Americans are being displaced is the plain observation that voters keep making while career politicians tell them to accept decline. Republicans whose first instinct is to cry racism at their own nominee are out of touch with the electorate.
Conservative narrative
Texas conservatives support lawful immigration enforcement without embracing racist rhetoric or handing political influence to voices that undermine the Republican Party’s broader future. Bo French’s comments cross that line. Defending conservative principles does not require accepting divisive language, and the party should elevate serious voices capable of building a durable coalition rather than alienating voters.
