PayPal's settlement is yet another win in the Trump administration's campaign against unlawful corporate DEI practices. From the very beginning, the fund was flat-out illegal, violating the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Scrapping this discriminatory scheme, therefore, was essential, while its replacement will provide genuine support for small businesses without the racial preferences.
The administration's deliberate and relentless targeting of DEI practices is part and parcel of Trump's discriminatory brand of politics. Ignoring the well-documented racial gaps in hiring, lending and wealth-building, this hostile stance doesn't seek to address the inequalities inherent in American society, but rather cement them, to the detriment of minorities across the country.
