Pro-government narrative
Accountability came fast and hard after the tragic incident: the building owner was arrested and five MCD officials, from the deputy commissioner down to the junior engineer, were suspended on the spot. The city is sealing buildings with illegal fifth floors citywide and nearby paying guest accommodations face full inspections. Nobody responsible walks away from this one.
Government-critical narrative
Suspensions and arrests do nothing for students crushed under a building that never should have stood. The PG maze around campus still has no audits, no oversight and no real accountability, so the students fleeing those lanes will be back in the same death traps within weeks. Speeches at Delhi University about ideology mean little when hostels collapse days later.
