Version 7.11.2
Lindsay Clancy had every resource available — a husband, doctors, therapists and financial comfort — yet she still strangled her three young children. No amount of outside support excuses taking the lives of her own kids, and the push to raise millions for her defense only glorifies a deeply disturbing act. Accountability matters, and no mental health claim changes what happened to those children.
Investigators' case against Clancy was closed just 21 hours after first responders arrived, and the prosecution's own witnesses raised more questions than answers. Computer searches attributed to Lindsay may have conceivably been Patrick's; medications she'd handed over to him turned up in her system, and he — not doctors or family — is the source of the most damning statements against her. Their slain children deserve a more thorough investigation.
While there is a growing faction of those who believe Clancy might be innocent, that theory has evidently not shown enough credibility for either the prosecution or defense to bring up in court. What is clear is that this case has shown both the tragic symptoms of certain prescription mental health drugs, as well as a lack of understanding of postpartum depression.
