Hauling off young people for peacefully holding the national flag is the mark of a government terrified of its own citizens. Democracy curdles the moment dissent gets treated as a crime and police power becomes a tool to frighten a whole generation into silence. A ruling party that cannot tolerate a slogan or a flag has already admitted it cannot win the argument.
The right to protest has never included the right to shut down a capital city and hold everyone else's day hostage. Permission rules exist because big crowds turn unpredictable fast, and no organizer can promise control once thousands show up. Branding every lawful police action as oppression cheapens the word and ignores the duty to keep order under the constitution.
