Version 7.7.2
The Gardaí's seizure of an extremely significant car bomb near the Northern Irish border is a reminder that a small faction of dissident republicans still poses a deadly threat to innocent lives. Violence is never a legitimate political tool, and the alleged involvement of such a young woman makes this even more alarming. Swift police action likely prevented a catastrophe.
While violence cannot be condoned, authorities must accept that such methods will continue to be employed for as long as historic oppression goes unacknowledged. The Republican movement in Northern Ireland endured decades of British military force and calculated government deception — Irish republican resistance has deep historical roots, born from England's systematic suppression of Irish sovereignty. More must be done to address the legacy of this subjugation.
