Discord has become the venue of choice online for groomers, sextortionists, and all those who seek to harm children. Organized and sadistic grooming groups, like 764, have victimized countless minors globally thanks to the negligence of Big Tech. Discord in particular has supercharged their activities, and allows criminals unrestricted access to minors thanks to their lax moderation.
Government-critical narrative
Banning livestreaming does nothing but hand government more control over digital platforms while criminals just hop to another app. Brazilian authorities are disturbingly eager to exert government power over social media, including expanding liability to the point of encouraging preemptive censorship. Parents must be trusted to protect their kids; government intervention misses the point.
