Version 7.18.2
Self-determination should have long settled the Falklands conflict, as the islanders are loud and clear about where they stand. Argentina's decision to haul a sovereignty grudge before a maritime tribunal that doesn't rule on territorial claims is merely a political stunt aimed at distracting from trouble at home. Holding firm and refusing to budge is the right response to a mercenary grab at another nation's oil.
Real sovereignty comes from governing: appointing officials, posting a garrison and raising a flag over a community. That was happening in the Malvinas before British warships arrived in 1833. Britain's South Atlantic occupation began with an armed eviction that doesn't become lawful title just because time passed. Any claim built on that seizure deserves scrutiny in court.
