Sanctions on the oil companies chasing Sea Lion are a smart, peaceful way to press a claim ignored for decades, and Houston service firms walking away prove the strategy bites. Malvinas, the South Atlantic and Antarctica are one strategic package and letting London hand a disputed seabed to private drillers would lock in a fait accompli.
Government-critical narrative
No amount of chest-thumping from Buenos Aires changes the fact that the islanders want the Falklands to stay British. Milei's sudden nationalist push distracts from sagging poll numbers, corruption allegations and an economy that still isn't creating jobs. Britain should reinforce the garrison now, because deterrence only works when an aggressor knows an attack would fail.
