The Spin

Republican narrative

Foreign countries have been imposing their anti-free speech agendas on Americans for too long, but that will end under the Trump administration. Americans on American soil have the right to post whatever they want, and no want-to-be-dictator, whether it's Judge Alexandre de Moraes in Brazil or a European politician, can take that right away.

Democratic narrative

Marco Rubio must have zero shame or a very short memory. The State Department, which arrested and is trying to deport a foreign student for writing a pro-Palestine article, is now lecturing other countries on censorship. Rubio should reform his own censorship regime before complaining about Europe's efforts to tackle violent online hate speech.

Fact 5

The Guardian is the only source because it's the only one that has so far mentioned Samson's remarks.
