The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

While AI isn't perfect, and the Pentagon is cautious, modern warfare demands it. Tools like ChatGPT, already used by generals in conjunction with AI experts, speed up intelligence analysis and operational response. With China racing ahead in AI adoption, scaling these tools for procurement and operations is critical to U.S. dominance. Stalling AI integration risks falling behind, undermining lethality and national security.

Establishment-critical narrative

AI will be used more for death, destruction and human rights violations than for good. As shown by Israel's AI systems like Lavender and The Gospel, military leaders will have little oversight, generating kill lists and then letting the AI loose to attack. The Pentagon also wants to use AI for propaganda, scraping data to manipulate the public and suppress dissent.
