The American-made AMRAAM missile is the world's best air dominance weapon system, with over three decades of proven combat experience, testing, and upgrades. The sale of these powerful weapons to Poland, which can seamlessly integrate them into its military structure, will drastically strengthen the capabilities of a NATO ally in the face of Russian aggression in Ukraine.
While the sale of AMRAAM missiles to Poland is welcome, purchases like these must no longer be treated as a long-term procurement strategy and instead seen as a stopgap measure. With the U.S. under President Trump becoming an increasingly unreliable ally, Europe must instead begin producing its own weapon systems to achieve strategic autonomy from the U.S. and maintain its security.
