UN Reduces Peacekeeping Forces By 25% Amid US Funding Cuts

The U.N. announced Wednesday that it will reduce its peacekeeping forces by approximately 25%, affecting between 13,000 and 14,000 military and police personnel across nine global missions in the coming months.

The peacekeeping budget cuts will affect missions in Congo, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Lebanon, Cyprus, Kosovo, Western Sahara, the Golan Heights and other regions where U.N. forces monitor ceasefires and protect civilians.
