David Warburton, a former Conservative MP, was found dead in a London apartment last week, the city's police force confirmed on Monday.

"Police were called by the London ambulance service at 10:47 a.m. on Tuesday 26 August," a spokesperson for London's Metropolitan Police said. "A man in his 50s was found dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed."

Prior to his death, Warburton represented the Somerton and Frome constituency in Somerset between 2015 and 2023 but was suspended from the Conservative Party in 2022 and resigned as an MP in 2023 after he faced allegations of sexual misconduct and cocaine use.

His death is a tragedy.
