After just a couple of months, the Trump administration’s trade policy is already paying dividends. By putting pressure on India to act as the responsible U.S. partner that it is, Trump has successfully convinced the country to substantially reduce its imports of Russian oil, weakening Putin’s war machine and paving the way for a fair trade deal between America and India.

Government-critical narrative

Trump made an egregious geostrategic error by placing his punitive tariffs on India. Rather than encouraging the country to align with American interests, these measures have alienated a crucial ally and undermined its trust in the U.S. as a strategic partner. In the long run, this will only benefit U.S. adversaries who will seek to offer India what America no longer can.
