Version 6.15.1
Election integrity demands universal voter ID requirements to prevent fraud and ensure only eligible citizens participate in American democracy. The overwhelming majority of Americans — 84% according to Gallup polling — support requiring photo identification to vote, with even 67% of Democrats backing the measure. These common-sense safeguards protect the fundamental right of legitimate voters by preventing illegal voting and maintaining public confidence in election results.
Strict voter ID laws create discriminatory barriers that disproportionately prevent Americans of color from exercising their constitutional right to vote. Voters of color are nearly four times more likely than white citizens to lack current government-issued photo identification, and racial turnout gaps widen when states enact these restrictive requirements. These laws effectively disenfranchise eligible voters who face economic and bureaucratic obstacles to obtaining proper documentation.
