The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

Milei's libertarian revolution has delivered remarkable results, proving that free-market policies work even in a country on the verge of economic collapse. He has laid the foundation for Argentina's historic return to prosperity, even without commanding a congressional majority. There's still much to do in Argentina, and Milei deserves support from the U.S. This is a good-faith geopolitical move to help a crucial strategic ally in countering Chinese influence in the Western Hemisphere and to boost America's credibility with other allies in Latin America.

Anti-Trump narrative

The Trump administration is again prioritizing personal relationships over U.S. taxpayers, now to prop up the abjectly failed libertarian experiment that succeeded in tackling inflation, but whose austerity measures have hurt jobs. It's unacceptable that American families struggling with their own economic challenges will be forced to subsidize a Trump's ideological ally whose leadership is crumbling just before the make-or-break midterm elections amid corruption scandals that implicate his inner circle and economic instability.
