The Spin

Republican narrative

Charlotte desperately needs federal intervention as murders in Uptown have skyrocketed 200% and violent crime has spiraled out of control. Eight homicides in seven days prove local leadership has failed to protect residents. National Guard deployments work, giving local police relief to focus on targeting the worst offenders. Washington, D.C., saw 12 consecutive days without homicides after Trump sent troops. Regardless of current numbers, crime should be far lower than it is.

Democratic narrative

Trump’s planned federal immigration operation is terrorizing Charlotte families, forcing parents to sign power-of-attorney forms to protect their children and homes. Over 250 residents have already marched in protest, while local groups host “know your rights” workshops to prepare immigrant communities. Immigrants are not the threat — Trump’s policies are spreading fear, undermining trust and threatening the safety and dignity of residents before operations even begin.
