As part of efforts to restore stability to Sweida, Syrian security forces have established a security perimeter around the city and are working to ensure that those who wish to evacuate can do so while working to provide aid to those who remain. All parties are urged to adhere to the ceasefire and work towards reconciliation.
If Syrian authorities want any chance of a unified, inclusive and peaceful country, its security forces need to take control of the situation in Sweida, and its officials must fully hold to account those who committed massacres and atrocities, even if they come from their own ranks.
