The return to war has not saved the hostages. Furthermore, Israel's aid distribution plans have already proved to be ineffective and problematic. Allowing a token amount of aid will not significantly improve the humanitarian situation. Indeed, both sides need to make concessions so that the ceasefire can be fully implemented and the hostages can be returned.
If Western nations and international organizations truly cared about the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, they would pressure Hamas to release the hostages and surrender instead of calling for Israel to end a war it didn't start. Israel will not be forced into a situation in which its security is compromised, and it will continue to work toward Hamas' defeat regardless of the hypocritical statements made by Western leaders.
It should be clear after almost two years of grinding brutality that Israel's true goal is to destroy Gaza and starve its people. Indeed, starvation is an integral part of Israel's genocidal campaign. Children are starving to death in their mothers' arms, yet the United States and the international community have failed to end this travesty.
