The Spin

Democratic narrative

It's a shame that someone with Nadler's experience and lengthy list of accomplishments for Democratic causes has to step aside. But he's doing the party a favor by retiring at a time when it needs a transfusion of new blood. Nadler's decision should set an example for others who should give way to a younger generation of leaders.

Republican narrative

Nadler spent much of his career butting heads with Trump, both before and during the president's terms — doing little to help the country. Nadler was also a troublemaker and an encourager of open borders. Democrats might benefit from his absence, but this will also help Trump advance his agenda without another obstructor in the way.
