The Spin

Democratic narrative

The removal of a permitted statue in the dead of night without a 24-hour notice to those responsible for the artwork violates permit requirements and amounts to an attack on free speech rights. This was censorship, plain and simple. It's clear that the Trump administration fears public scrutiny of Trump's connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

Republican narrative

Liberal activists who for too long did nothing to help Epstein's victims have wasted money on a desperate publicity stunt that violated permit compliance requirements and got rightfully removed. It's public knowledge that Trump and Epstein knew each other — after all, Trump kicked him out of his club for being a creep.
