The Spin

Republican narrative

It's imperative that Republicans return to Raleigh and make these changes to the district lines. If the Democrats — particularly in California — are going to cheat in an attempt to gain a majority in the House in the 2026 election, then North Carolina has no choice but to do its part to make sure it has the president's back.

Democratic narrative

The Republicans have exposed themselves as blind followers of Trump's edicts. They have plenty of business they could do to make North Carolina's voters' lives better, including passing a budget and making sure teachers and law enforcement officers are paid what they deserve. Instead, the GOP is focused on abusing its powers and silencing voters for Trump's shady strategy.
