Conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair posted on X on Feb. 14 that she gave birth to Elon Musk's alleged 13th child five months ago, claiming she was forced to reveal this information due to impending tabloid coverage.

St. Clair alleged that Musk initially contacted her via direct messages on X in May 2023, leading to meetings in San Francisco, Calif., and Providence, RI, with subsequent arrangements including a New York apartment and non-disclosure agreements for her friends.

Through her representative Brian Glicklich, St. Clair said she and Musk had been privately working on a parenting agreement, though communication reportedly ceased when she made the public announcement.

Musk's only public response to the claim was a single-word tweet, "Whoa," in reaction to a post suggesting St. Clair had planned to "ensnare" him, followed by an announcement that he would be offline to work on his Grok 3 artificial intelligence (AI) project.

St. Clair, who previously wrote for the conservative satirical website The Babylon Bee and authored a transgender-critical children's book, claimed she was instructed to maintain secrecy throughout her pregnancy and agreed to leave Musk's name off the birth certificate.

While this alleged birth may not be seen as conventional through the eyes of St. Clair's conservative colleagues, that doesn't give newspapers the right to harass her and her baby to boost their ratings. Musk, too, has a role in this, as he's not only the father but also a very wealthy man who could've helped protect her throughout this process. The conservative media world should be congratulating them on their birth and wishing them well.

While no one's child should be stalked by the press, the only two people facing scrutiny here are the alleged mother and father, whom conservatives online have rightly called out for their actions. St. Clair, who says she wants to be a traditional wife, has now had two children out of wedlock. She's clearly using her platform to cudgel Musk into paying child support, and critics have every right to call her out on her scheme.
