The Spin

Pro-Russia narrative

Throughout the negotiating process, Russia has been clear and consistent about its conditions for peace. The country is ready to move swiftly towards a settlement, as long as these conditions are fulfilled. As such, much of the outcome depends on Kyiv.

Pro-Ukraine narrative

By continuing to insist with its maximalist demands — including a number of conditions that are unacceptable to Ukraine — Russia shows that it's unwilling to make any compromise and, as such, is not really serious about achieving peace.
