The Israeli right has used the leak controversy to stoke a witch hunt within the military. Before it was clear that Tomer-Yerushalmi was behind the leak, the right was attacking Herzl Halevi and Daniel Hagari. The right's obsession with covering up Israeli abuses has only undermined the country's rule of law and ensured the corruption of the Israeli state.

What Tomer-Yerushalmi did is simply indefensible, as her actions have severely damaged Israel's reputation on the world stage. Though reports of abuse should be investigated, one should remember that those held at Sde Teiman were some of Hamas' most elite terrorists and investigations must be done discreetly away from the public eye.
Pro-Palestine narrative
Systematic torture in Israeli detention facilities is incredibly well-documented and has been a staple of the occupation for decades. Indeed, it's quite remarkable that such overwhelming evidence has made little impact on international or Israeli opinion. In fact, many Israelis support the abuses committed against Palestinians, which explains why the right has used this issue so effectively.
