    The Spin

    Pro-establishment narrative

While there is a process for repatriating Guantanamo Bay prisoners, as was shown by the recent release of two men connected to Hambali, that doesn't mean it should be a common occurrence. The men imprisoned there are some of the most notorious anti-American terrorists in history, and the US government should not be swayed easily by calls to empty prison cells.

    Establishment-critical narrative

Guantanamo Bay has been illegally detaining unindicted men for decades and should be shut down. Even the 1% of them who have been charged with war crimes, which includes Hambali, have yet to receive a trial, let alone a fair one. The US has no right to indefinitely hold these men in a torture chamber, which is why countries like Indonesia are rightly calling for repatriation.
